We are working towards a plastic bag free Poole and beyond! It has become pretty difficult to ignore the rising mountain of plastic that our fast moving, over developed world is building up. We are leaving quite a legacy for our future generations. You may feel that the matter is out of your hands- however YOU have the power to make a difference! The Clean Green Bag Scheme would like to ask the people of Poole to start making that difference! 
(Some bags hanging out in Poole park- Swans hate 'em you know) Our aim is to win over the hearts and minds of local Poole traders and the people of Poole. For some years now plastic bags have been given out for free at an alarming rate. This has not always been the case, people used to take their own bag or shopping 'trolley' with them when they went to the shops. Although they only play one part in the enormous'plastic mountain' that we are leaving behind us, plastic bags find their way out into the oceans, the countryside, and harm thousands of different birds, wildlife and sea life as well as domestic animals. Not all the bags you see littering up the countryside and seas, have been thrown away thoughtlessly, many blow away from landfill sites. For anything free there is normally a price to pay. 
(They're just not pretty - Fleetsbridge Poole) We are asking that local traders agree to stop handing out free plastic bags and instead are able to offer their public an alternative (preferably a more environmentally friendly option) that they may purchase. We hope that this will encourage the general public to reuse their bags. IT'S EASY ONCE YOU KNOW HOW. THE REAL ALTERNATIVE TO THE PLASTIC BAG IS TO CHANGE YOUR MINDSET-DO SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR YOUR PLANET. 'Poole-it's a beautiful place' Let's keep it that way.
